Note from Tracy Sjostrom PCLA Principal
I hope you have had a wonderful summer. The staff and I are are looking forward to seeing your student. We have many changes at the Learning Center that will greatly benefit your child.
First off, we are working towards becomming the Park City Learning Academy. We will be totally rebranding the school to create a fresh, exciting, safe learning environment to meet the needs of all kids. An architect will be seeking input from the students as we redecorate and create a new logo.
Secondly, we have an amazing opportunity due to funding in part by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative “to advance human potential and promote equality in areas of health, education, scientific research and energy”. We will be the first school in the state of Utah to implement a researched based approach called Summit Learning. The program transitions students from a traditional classroom to a more personalized, project based classroom.
We are so excited to embark upon the Summit Learning journey with our students. Really focusing on cognitive skills, using those skills to create interesting, relevant projects and guiding and supporting our students with a structured mentoring program will help rejuvenate an inherent love for learning.
Thank you for all of your support!
Welcome to the Park City Learning Academy
The Learning Academy is the home to many programs offered by the Park City School District.
The Day Program provides Park City High School Students with an alternative setting for core class instruction. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors enroll in their Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts courses at the Park City Learning Academy. The PCLA provides students with personal attention and quality instruction via small class sizes and multiple year relationships with teachers. Students are supported with a dedicated administrator and guidance counselor to further personalize their high school journey. Interested in enrolling? Contact your high school guidance counselor to see if the Learning Academy is a good match for your PCHS student.
The After School Program serves numerous student needs. It is a credit recovery program for students that may not have passed a class and a placement program for students that are no longer allowed on campus during the traditional school day.
